FAQs

What is elderberry syrup?  What are the benefits?

Elderberry syrup is a liquid you take each day to help give your body extra support during the Cold & Flu months.  Most people use it because they’re seeking to support their immune system.  Research on elderberries themselves provides many reasons to include them in your healthy regime.  Google "sambucus nigra benefits" and enjoy hours of reading.

Why do you call it a syrup?

It’s not a syrup that you would use on pancakes.  It’s a syrup simply because of the honey that’s added to sweeten the cooked berries.  Without the honey, it is quite bitter.  The only honey we use is quality Local kentucky RAW honey.  Our bee keeper has thousands of hives throughout 13 counties in Kentucky.

How much should I take each day?

Adult: 1/2 to 1 Tablespoon a day.

Child: 1/2 to 1 teaspoon a day.

If sickness occurs, take normal serving every 2-3 hours until symptoms disappear.  Keep in mind that elderberry syrup should bever be used as a substitue for standard care.

What does it taste like?

My kids picked a creamsicle flavor that gives a wonderful after taste.

What makes Sweet 'n Simple Elderberry Syrup different than the store bought syrups?

Three things distinguish us from store-bought elderberry syrup: ingredients, taste and cost. As opposed to glucose syrup and other additives, we use raw, local honey in our syrup. Also, we don't add preservatives to our syrup, and our syrup is roughly 1/2 of the cost of store-bought elderberry syrup.

How long does my syrup last?

There are no preservatives at all, besides the honey which is a natural preservative.  Enjoy your syrup before 6 months.  Store your syrup in the refrigerator at all times.  If you want it to last longer than 6 months, some people make popsicles or icecubes and keep it in the freezer.  It will last over a year once it's frozen.

Is your syrup organic?

We use USDA Organic certified ingredients, but we are not, ourselves, USDA Certified Organic.
